In partnership with the Nova Iguaçu Football Club, Traffic Academy / Rio de Janeiro will discover and select young athletes, which, at a later stage, will be sent to the center of excellence in Porto Feliz. The project in Nova Iguaçu is the first step in the expansion of the Academy to various regions of Brazil.
Nova Iguaçu will become the first satellite club for Traffic Academy. The structure of NIFC is impressive: There are eight football fields, including two with professional dimensions. In addition, there are three society fields, sand multisports courts, and a technical center for trainers and doctors to work with athletes, with professional physicians and physiotherapists. The Academia/Rio is equipped with an auditorium, cafeteria and gym, complete with physiologists.
The "Laranjinhas" (Scouts) will be responsible for recruiting athletes in Rio de Janeiro, south of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo. The initiative began with a group of Taffic scouts, who saw a need to scout around Brazil in search of new talent.
Its history of discovering major players, like striker Deivid (currently playing for Fenerbahce-TUR) and defender Aírton (former Flamengo player, now with Benfica-POR), its well developed scouting sector, and its well-run organization at managerial level were what attracted Traffic to the NIFC. The prospects of new emerging football values will lead to an exchange between Desportivo Brasil and the Rio de Janeiro team.
